One alternative that often remains unnoticed is the possibility of staying in rented apartment instead of a hotel room. The difference is that a hotel room commonly will have a fridge that is mostly filled with overpriced drinks and provides no facilities for preparing food and often no facilities for washing clothes. Modern hotel rooms have a "bar fridge" that is equipped with sensors and is fully stocked with things that you have to pay for, if anything is moved. Rented apartment will have a fridge which is fully empty for you to stock foodstuffs. It will have a minimally supplied kitchen where you can prepare food. Some rented apartments have a washing machine and a dryer, but it is common to have communal facilities for washing clothes. Anyway, there will be some alternative for doing the washing that doesn't cost much. Another considerable difference between rented accommodation and hotels is the layout which is mostly determined by the size. Rented apartment may have separate rooms divided by walls. Thus, some apartments may have two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a dining area separated from the rest of the apartment. This enables a tenant to arrange business meetings in the dining area while somebody is sleeping in one of the bedrooms. There is a considerable difference between having a business meeting in the lounge of an apartment and in a hotel room. Apartments often are usually a lot more expensive than hotel rooms, because they are much more spacious because of the kitchen area. But by preparing food in the kitchen of rented apartment you can save a good deal on restaurants and mini-bar drinks. One more way to save some money is to use some inflatable camping beds for four tenants to sleep in rented apartment that is intended for two. Still, landowners try and discourage this by solely having enough cutlery for two people and not having extra blankets, towels, etc. In contrast, hotel rooms frequently have an over-supply of towels and blankets, because it is easier to just fill every closet with them than to handle requests from customers at night.
